OJOCION: I have been programming my dreams for about 10 or 15 years now. It's become easier and easier to remember my dreams. I was told by my brother that this particular dream is what's called a "seers dream" because I had it just prior to waking. And I was told by my dream instructor that this kind of dream is called a "teaching dream."

I didn't want a name change, I didn't program [my dreams] for a name change, it just happened. It was 1994, and I was sleeping when in my dream I projected above and behind myself. In the dream I was kind of a thin, male farmer with a straw hat and a longish loin cloth. Someone, a voice, someone I couldn't see off to my left said to me simply, "What's your name?"

My right arm came up. It was my arm but of another race. The skin was a dark reddishbrown, and I had a stick, like an oversized twig, in my hand.

I said, "My name is…" and I bent over, and in the sand-it was an arid sandy dirt, a hot place, and I got the feeling it was my land, I was the farmer-anyway, I said, "My name is O-J-O-C-I-O-N." I wrote it in the dirt, I pronounced each letter out loud in English, and then I woke up.

I sAId, "mY nAmE Is

O-J-O-C-I-O-N

I looked up the word in a number of dictionaries, French, Spanish, Latin, English…I found that c-i-o-n or s-c-i-o-n means inheritor or clone, a term derived from horticulture and tree grafting. I checked with the Mexican community locally, too, to make sure it wasn't an "evil" name, didn't have any weird connotations. But when I told people that I was thinking of going by a name that I had dreamed, their faces would light up and they'd smile. I thought, what a great reaction! I tried it on for fit for a couple of years, and I have been going by this name since 1996.
