So, I have to give
you context for this dream. The year was 1999. I had just been living
in Brooklyn with my girlfreind in part of Brooklyn called Kensington,
which is an area where there is NOTHING going on and it is awful. It is
the most dreadful place on earth. And essentially, I 'd just graduated
from college and it was pretty much the worst summer of my life in terms
of living conditions and poverty , et cetera et cetera et cetera and what
not.And um, we--that summer--we headed out West after we decided to leave
Brooklyn, after being there for 3 months, and we headed out West to California
and we went on a road trip. Overall the trip took 3 weeks. So that's the
background and setting for my dream. Then what happened was, I kept on
having this reoccuring dream which I have to this day. IT
IS ESSENTIALLY THE MOST TERRIFYING NIGHTMARE THAT I'VE EVER HAD. AND I
HAVE IT OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN. |

ME
AND MY GIRLFRIEND HAD DRIVEN CROSS-COUNTRY AND WE'RE IN LIKE, WYOMING
, OR MAYBE WE'RE IN MONTANA
or somewhere in that region. And somehow my brother, or someone else comes
out and convinces me to drive back home and for some reason or another
I am swayed by their argument and drive home with them, leaving my girlfriend
out on the road and, um, returning to New Jersey, which is perhaps the
place I loathe most. |

And then, at the end of that
dream I always wake up literally terrified because I get home and I'm
like, what have I done? Why did I leave this road trip? OH
MY GOD, I WAS HAVING THE MOST FUN OF MY LIFE. WHY DID IT END? And
every time I wake up I'm usually here in my apartment in San Francisco,
and uh, I find out that none of the dream was true and that I'm actually
not in New Jersey but in California. And, um, that's the dream that
I kept having.
And I should stipulate
to be honest, I ended up in California because we drove out here and
our car died so I had to get rid of it.
